2011 Top Trends-Punk

Hey everyone! This is part three of my 2011 fashion trend forecast. As military is fading out two trends are filling it's place. Biker-Chic and Punk. The main vision of punk is rebellion, controversy and the element of shock. The key is to not take it over the top and look costumey. The problem with punk is that it's been in the fashion circle for a while now, lessening the element of shock, when everyones doing it. That's why this year, punk is going to become less of a theme and more of an accessory. Mixing punk items with other trends. A big thing for punk is STUDS! You just have to be careful not to overdo the studs. Combat boots are another punk accessory. They're very similar, therefore interchangeable with motorcycle boots.A big punk icon is safety pins. They're all over the place. They decorate clothing items. They're turned into jewelry... etc. So overall the key to punk is to mix in little pieces, not to go over the top. Blogspot finally fixed it's picture adding problem so I have the pictures below. I'll talk to you soon!

2011 Top Trends-Biker Chic

Hey everyone! Here is the second post of my fashion countdown to 2011! A trend to watch is biker fashion. As military chic fades, the biker trend is here to replace. The main ideas of the trend are motorcycle jackets, motorcycle pants, and motorcycle boots. The key piece, the motorcycle jacket, is now springing up in a multitude of colors, including metallic silvers and two-toned leather. Designers have also added zipper sleeves and quilting to the mix. Next in line are the leather pants. These are not your average skin tight, black leggings. These are decked out with mesh side-panels, exposed zippers, quilting, padding,  and neutral colors. An alternative to the leather pants is the neo-mod leather skirt (by Burberry.) Completed with quilting detail and all. And last but certainly not least, the boots. They have been circulating the fashion world for some time now, which means they're all over the place, all looking average. So i suggest finding a statement pair quickly! I added some pictures of the Burberry collection to give you an idea. I'll talk to you soon with new 2011 trends!

2011 Top Trends- 70's Glamour

Hey everyone! As the New Year is coming up I decided to talk about the hot trends coming with 2011! This will be in a series of posts up until tomorrow at midnight! I'm going to start by talking about 70's glamour. This is a variation of the famous boho look of the 70's that has been turned into a more sophisticated, elegant, glamorous trend. This includes adding floppy hats, exotic jewels, and high platforms. During the day, the trend is completely different. It includes voluminous silhouettes, earthy color palettes, belted, high-waisted, wide leg pants, silk/satin bow blouses, roll neck sweaters (tucked in, a layered with necklaces or a vest), hot pants and jumpsuits. At night, you might want high sheen fabrics with metallic threads, a ruffled neckline under a brocade blazer or tuxedo jacket, and long, slinky gowns with draping, low necklines or dress slits to get the 70's look. Of course you can't go without accessories! 70's inspired embellishments include leather satchels(day) or small long strapped bag(night), statement belts, thigh-high boots, lots of jewelry! (tons of rings, bold stones, piles of bangles, long pendant necklaces, & strings of beads.) Hairstyles include sleek, longer bobs, lots of bouncy curls, and long flowing hair. I added some pictures, I hope this helps! I'll see you soon with my next 2011 trend!

Name Tags? Bag Tags?

Hey everyone! So I'm here today to talk about these tag bracelets are super in. I can't remember what their called though! If you know what I'm talking about leave a comment because I'd love to finally know! They're a silver chain bracelet, and in the middle is a silver rectangle with whatever on it. I have one from my nut allergy that I use to have to wear when I was little so teachers & parents or whatever know I'm allergic to nuts. On the back was my home phone number. All the prints in red. It's just really cool, and my new thing is stacking bracelets so this is one of my main components in my stacking but that's another post. I'd post a picture of it but all the pictures I've taken of it, you can't even tell what it is because the camera reflects in the silver. So hopefully you get the point of what I'm trying to explain, and go find yourself one! If I ever get a good picture I'll post it! Tata for now!

Fashion: Traveling

I don't get why people think that when they travel they have to wear a Juicy or Pink track suit. That's not what they're for people!!!! You can dress comfortably and not be in sweat pants! I was in the O'hare airport today and I swear 99% of the girls there were in sweats! Has anyone ever heard of leggings?!?! I wore leggings, a tank, a belted long sweater, and comfy flats, and I have to say I was very comfortable! I'm not saying you have to wear your school uniform or a red carpet gown, I'm just asking you to respect yourselves a bit.
Tata for now!

Christian Dior; a groomsman

Hey Everyone!!! A couple people from my mom's side of the family were in town, including my uncle. And we were out to dinner, all telling stories and whatnot, when my uncle was talking about how he went to this wedding in the south of France. And guess where it was? In Christian Dior's estate! Obviously he doesn't live there anymore because he's dead. But after he died, a couple bought his mansion, and now they rent it out for weddings! How cool is that? And the guests even stay there! My uncle slept in a room Christian Dior walked in! And of course he doesn't call me as soon as he found out, I learn as he's making conversation at the dinner table! Anyway, I've decided that's where I'm going to have my wedding. You all  have witnessed my decision. I'll talk to you later, I'm going to go research this place! Haha :-)

Secretariat: Costume Design

Hey everyone! So I just went to see the movie Secretariat with my family and it is my new favorite movie. No Joke! And I rarely say that! So if you don't get what I'm saying... GO SEE IT! I'm not kidding would pay someone to see it! Haha just kidding! :-) Anyway, the movie takes place in the late 1960's early 1970's.   The age of housewives going to horse races in big hats, with flowers and bows all over them. But not once in the whole movie did Penny, the housewife who owns Secretariat, wear a big hat! All the other ladies did but she didn't. She always wore little kitten-heels and sling-backs. With a pant suit, or a blazer or blouse and a skirt that went mid-calf. I also noticed she always wore earrings and a necklace, and of course her horse pin. And her hair was always... I'm not sure how to describe how it looked so I'll put some pictures in. It was just amazing how she managed two, separate, busy lives, and be so high-fashion. Well for that time... haha. So I really suggest you see the movie. It's my new favorite!

Project Runway Finale!

Hey Everyone! So the season finale of Project Runway Season 8 was the other night, and guess who won. GRETCHEN! :-( If you read my earlier blog about finding the next Christian Siriano, the runner-up Mondo was so close! Except he doesn't say fierce, of course. Haha :-). But his collection was impeccable, he mixes crazy patterns with color... It was... it was.... FIERCE! That's the perfect world to describe it. I was in love with this little, plaid, cocktail dress, if I had the money I would pay anything for it! Haha. But, of course Mondo doesn't win, Gretchen does. I mean her collection was okay, but it should not have won. It was boho meets Rachel Zoe, Stella McCartney. A lot of african/animal prints that she mixed together, and was great runway wise, but I wouldn't have worn it. Also, she wasn't very nice. She had a big ego after she won the first two challenges and after that it went down hill. I respect her as a designer, but she shouldn't have won. Anyway, Andy came in third, and I thought his collection was good, but it wasn't up to standards looking at his past work on the show. I added a few pictures of Mondo and Gretchen's collections. I'll talk to you later!

LOVE By Mia

Hey everyone! So if you know me you know I design and sew cloths, bags, jewelry...etc. It started with my making of a pleated, sweatshirt fleece, skirt. I wore it to school, and instantly all my friends wanted one! Then I started making other things, headbands, bags, pencil cases, fabric necklaces.... And I don't know if you've seen the new "thing everyone knows about" is writing love in signs. The L is the breast cancer ribbon, the O is a peace sign, the V is a heart, and the E is a side-ways smiley face. I've decided that that is going to be my label name. You know like, "Marc by Marc Jacobs." Mine will be LOVE By Mia, except spelled with the little symbols.  What do you think? To cheesy? Let me know! Below are some pictures of things I've made and the LOVE sign. I'll talk to you later!

Hair Streak

Hey everyone! So my friends and I were at Urban Outfitters and we all got these cute, little, colored hair streaks. We all said we would wear them on monday, but of course I was the only one who remembered.  I've been wearing it for three days, but it kind of limits my hair styling choices. (I learned the hard way that it was made of plastic and couldn't be curled. Haha :-) ) Another thing that's hard is that I have to watch that it doesn't clash with what I'm wearing! But a plus is that it gives neutral colored outfits some flair. But it would be kind of weird if I wear it like an accessory, like I wear some days, but not others. Half of the people I know love it, and the other half hate it. Should I retire the hair streak, or forget what the losers who hate it are saying? HELP ME!!!

Crimped Hair

Wide Toothed Comb
Curling Mousse
Smoothing Gel
Hey everyone! Again, sorry I haven't been posting regularly, I'll try to post more often. Anyway, I decided I'm going to tell everyone my biggest hair secret. Haha, actually it's not all that secretive but I'm going to give you the details of how I crimp my hair. If you've ever tried to crimp your hair with a crimping iron before, you know it's hard to get really defined "crimps," I guess we'll call them. Especially without using a whole bottle of hair spray to keep them in all day. So I came up the the idea of no-heat crimping. You take a shower within about an hour before you go to sleep. Then I add a smoothing gel, I guess you could call it. It's by Pantene, it's called Pantene Pro-V Style Smooth Serum. Then I finger scrunch in some curling mouse. It's also by Pantene, it's called Pantene Pro-V Style Curls Mousse. Brush your hair with a wide toothed comb into two sections of hair (I have a picture of mine at the bottom.) And divide each half into three smaller sections. If you have side bangs, they have their own section. And then braid each section. I have thin hair, so I probably would use less braids then someone with really thick hair. So experiment, and remember the smaller the braids the smaller the crimps. Go to sleep in the braids, and when you wake up in the morning take them out. You will have effortless crimped hair, and get so many complements you won't remember all of them. Haha I hope you try my little secret! I'll talk to you later!
